AJ SMITH - EPK

Bio

Not many can say that they were building infrared sensors for the US Navy while simultaneously serving as a Young Associate to the National Symphony Orchestra...in high school. But charting alt/pop artist AJ Smith can. And AJ's musical journey is as unique as they come.

The multi-instrumentalist (10+ instruments) was born in Denver, Colorado where he was exposed to show business at an early age. His father had literally "run away to join the circus" likely writing showmanship into AJ's DNA. On his mother's side, AJ's great-great-uncle is famed Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona.

After accepting scholarships from New York University, The Songwriters' Hall of Fame, and the Carole Bayer Sager Foundation to study music in New York, AJ immediately caught the ear of his professors, leading to numerous songwriting and recording artist opportunities, including penning "Summertime," which went #3 in Australia. Continued evidence of AJ's ability to write timeless music appeared in the form of music legends: Glenn Frey of the Eagles inviting AJ to open for the band in New York, Billy Joel sharing AJ's music and meeting him backstage at MSG...to Desmond Child, Holly Knight, and other songwriting giants inviting AJ into the studio.

AJ Smith takes his listeners on a musical odyssey, through honest, sanguine songwriting of epic proportions, matched only by the dynamic & show-stopping character of his live performances. Audiences are equally drawn to scream along to stadium-worthy anthems as they are to be emotionally hooked in pin-drop intimate ballads.

An optimistic existentialist, AJ injects hope into even the most hopeless of circumstances, such as in penning his breakthrough end-of-times anthem, “We’re All Gonna Die,” which went viral on TikTok, broke into the Top 50 at Alternative Radio, and reeled in millions of streams on Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

AJ Smith’s star is certainly on the rise as in the last two years alone, he has performed on The Kelly Clarkson Show, made his SXSW debut on their largest stage, been featured as one of the top independent artists to watch in Music Connection, and wowed audiences & critics across the United States with his 10+ multi-instrumentalism as direct support for bands like MAGIC GIANT, Ripe, The Zombies, The Collection, and more.

AJ's upcoming album, "We All ____: An Anthology of Universal Human Truths" is set to release in May of 2024 with 2024's first single, "We Won't Forget" already landing a major Spotify editorial placement on "New Pop Picks."
